Tv-series are produced in 4 parts: a) The Big Liar, b) Killed By Tears, c) The Trial Of The Century, d) The Execution. Each episode- consists of a 12-episode mini-series. The first episode of a new ary sports series was aired on April 8th, 2008. A second - The Execution - was aired a little over a month later on May 16th. The target audience of this movie series are presumably people who try to commit suicide and received better and worse results following their attempt.
This movie series has earned quite a following among people who both like and are inspired by suicide. Some of these people are very enthusiastic about watching a movie about a possible solution to an awful situation. For my part, I find the whole concept of a short film about a possible solution to be ridiculous. Let's face it – just try to watch 9.8 minutes long movie about suicide for more than one hour. No one can do it successfully. Let's hope that a broader perspective and information from those who are actually in the situation can change a little.
In the first episode of the series shot some time back (roughly six weeks ago) a man jumps from the roof of his apartment building, hit the ground hard, and is then helped up by various individuals. One of the people helping him is his gym-friend Sam, who is filming the whole incident on his smartphone.
"Have you seen your page?" asks Sam. "I want to tell you about this guy, Henrik Boesen" (aimed at the person filming the series) "He used to be my gym-friend, but he committed suicide last December" (aimed at Henrik himself).
By the way, the name Henrik is a homage to the 37th fastest sprinter in the history of the Olympics, Norway's own Hakeem Olajidé.
"Who?" enquires Sam.
"My son" (he's Danish and his son is American, but not Danish, so he's lumped in with US culture)
"Oh nice kid" (to a Scandinavian)
"How do you know he's from Norway?"
"He lives here now" (yeah, right)
"He must be doing really well--how'd he do?"
Sam: "You should ask Google. Type his name in Google..." (and Sam does)
Anyway, we see how Henrik, after taking his own life, finally manages to reach the top of his building's roof and calls the emergency services. He tells his family members that his fiancée
(played by California's own Gillian Kirk) is his accomplice and put a gun to her head. Yes, it's happened.
(You can watch is online, but doesn't seem to be active any more). It follows a number of presenters wearing sporty blazers (please bear in mind this isn’t rugby, it’s a sport :see), trying to do pretty well in what amounts to ‘reality’ TV. It’s a hit with sports brands and looks set to do well on the small screen too.
This post was originally an SEM post, but I think it could work well here too – especially with Rand’s twitter following accelerating due to the Network NEOTW and his recent Mail TBT series.
As SEOs, we may have noticed that as we’ve become more visible to a broader audience, we’ve also gained more competition. This means there are lots of websites vying for our attention. This isn’t new, of course – it’s just that life as an SEO has become more competitive. Monitoring the competition can be kind of like playing a game of Who has the best Twitter account with the most followers.
Only a fraction of the game is visible to those inside, and that is making the difference. In the popular game Of Forgiveness, one player is forgiven for the past – not taking offense, or getting defensive, or just forgetting the altogether. They are forgiven, and permitted to explore whatever part of the game they feel can be abused, or have been unfairly treated. In fact, that player gets credit for any recoveries or even gain – if it was a mistake they made.
Running a website like SEO is infinitely different to that. We have choices throughout a site’s life. We can rewrite pages, update them, control them, delete them, change their formatting, link to them, and so much more. Restoring or making money off a website is fundamentally more complex. Digital marketing is about being aware and prepared for all these options, and having the skills to control them.
As a small business owner who owns a couple websites, sometimes it’s tough to be totally in control of your website based on the SEO game analogy. This is where having the correct amount of time and resources comes in handy. If you want to see your competitors looking like the Network NEOTW, you can only play the game for so long. Our goal here is to give you something of value back, but you only have so much time. There is an immediate downside to revving up their processes too quickly, however, and that is that you often tend not to get many new visitors.
